Fulton, Md.– August 19, 2008 – Quality Associates, Inc., (www. qualityassociatesinc.com), an established provider of services and solutions for document management, imaging and archiving, and iScan, the document imaging services division of Humanim, Inc. a not-for-profit organization that employs individuals with disabilities, announced their participation in a joint project for the State of Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation. When completed this fall, the large-scale project will effectively remove, or redact, sensitive information within nearly 325,000 records, which will then be made available to the public via the Internet.
Governments at all levels are under pressure from concerned citizens to tighten the availability of sensitive information, such as social security numbers, while fulfilling their obligation to provide needed documentation to the general public. The process of redaction removes certain sensitive information from documents before they are made available to the public.
Quality Associates, a Fulton, Maryland-based company with a long history of working with local, state and federal government agencies, is providing the software and technical expertise needed for the project. iScan, based in Columbia, is employing a team of workers to perform the day-today, hands-on tasks required. iScan, a Division of Humanim, Inc., is a certified Maryland MBE (Minority Business Enterprise). The redaction work is scheduled for completion in fall 2008.
