Fulton, Md. — Quality Associates, Inc. (QAI) www.qualityassociatesinc.com, an established provider of services and solutions for large-scale document management, imaging and archiving, today announced that it has been awarded a contract by the City of Hagerstown, Md. to digitize Hagerstown Police Department (HPD) case files and criminal record jackets. The award follows a determination by city officials that QAI was the lowest, most responsive bidder among a field of 25 vendors.
Contract work began in June and is expected to run six months. QAI will transport some 600 boxes of files and nearly 300 rolls of microfilm, comprising millions of paper pages, photographs and fingerprint cards as well as over a half million microfilm images, to its facilities in Fulton for sorting and digitization. Some of the documents date back to the early 1900s.
John (“Jack”) Moulton, HPD Support Services Administrator, said, “HPD transitioned to electronic recordkeeping about three years ago. Digitizing these historical files in a compatible format will allow HPD to be totally electronic and free up valuable office space now used for record storage. Plus, any HPD department needing access to these records will be able to do so via their computer, making HPD operations even more efficient.”
