THE NEW FEDERAL DIGITIZATION REGULATIONS: A BEHIND THE SCENES LOOK

MICHAEL HORSLEY, Electronic Records Policy Analyst, NARA
The new NARA digitization standards apply an image quality method (FADGI) to conform to an ISO standard (19624). As such, they represent a long-overdue modern version of the old microfilm imaging standards that governed records and archives for many years. These new standards provide an opportunity for records managers, archivists, and librarians to once again once again lead digitization efforts in their organization – if they become educated about modern imaging science and the implementation of good workflows. (Recorded on 12.13.2023)
