The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announces jobs either internally or both internally and externally.
The applicants are required to fill out various forms to successfully apply for the announced
position. The applicants’ documentation for a specific announcement is called a “promotion
package”. Each applicant’s paperwork is considered a “file”. The IRS contracted with QAI
to make reproductions of promotion packages in an electronic format (CD-ROM) to fill
National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) information request. The IRS ships the promotion
packages to QAI from each Human Capital Office in paper format to be scanned and
sanitized (redacted) of all personal identifiable information.
QAI utilizes Kofax Indicius to classify the various document/form types automatically
to identify where personal identifying information is located within each of the many
document types contained in promotion packages. QAI personnel can sanitize (redact)
packages based on the classification of the documents and where personal identifying
information is located, sanitize each page within the package. The scanned packages are
converted to PDF and one (1) un-sanitized and two (2) sanitized CDs are created and
sent back to the appropriate Human Capital Office.
