Supporting Business Continuity at Constellation Energy

Constellation Energy contacted QAI to develop a process to digitally archive vital records on a protected network shared drive. Now vital records are scanned and stored digitally including legacy data and daily incoming records.

QAI built customized scripts allowing scanned engineering documents and maps, which are converted to TIFF files, that can be matched using a single job number and routed into a corresponding folder. These TIFF files are then automatically converted into a single PDF, accessible by field technicians via portable CD and laptop. Even those 15-foot maps are now accessible digitally. And as documents change, the data is changed on a daily basis in the database and updated digitally so Constellation Energy employees have the latest, most accurate information to do their jobs more quickly and safely.

Documentation that once required the equivalent of one storage cabinet can now be placed on one single CD, thereby freeing up valuable real estate space and allocation of resources.

Today, nearly six years into what has been a mutually beneficial relationship, QAI is serving as a key back-up resource to the Print & Digital Media Services Unit, providing on-call instant document management support and experience. As a result, Print & Digital Media Services is providing Constellation Energy employees with easier and faster access to information, resulting in a better customer service all around.
